Mazzulo sparks Penncrest in win over Garnet Valley

Austin Mazzulo’s four-goal, two-assist performance keyed Penncrest’s comeback, as the Lions erased an early 2-1 deficit in defeating Garnet Valley, 8-5, Friday in a Central Division boys hockey game at IceWorks.

Matthew Dougherty posted a hat trick and set up a pair of scores for Penncrest (3-4). The Jaguars (1-5) received balanced scoring, with Gannon Stuart and Thomas Schenk combining for two goals and five assists.

Springfield 11, Harriton 0 >> Tyler Riddle complemented his hat trick with one assist while Kevin Brown (two goals) and Andrew Astrino (one goal) posted three assists each to provide plenty of offensive support for goalie Michael Gerzabek, who turned aside 11 shots in posting the shutout for the Cougars (5-1) in the Central romp at IceWorks.

Interboro 3, Kennett 3 >> Stephen Schwartz scored twice, setting the stage for Mason Orner’s tying goal 9:34 into the third period as the Bucs (1-2-1) salvaged a tie despite being outshot, 31-22, in the South Division clash played at Pond Ice.
