2015 DLN All-Area Girls Lacrosse team

First Team

A/M Liz Scott, So., Conestoga

Most people would have thought Scott was a senior between her stats and voice on the field. She finished with 48 goals and led the Pioneers with four goals in the PIAA championship game. Scott was also their leader in draw controls (116).

A/M Monica Borzillo, Jr., Conestoga

Borzillo was very clutch for the Pioneers. One of the biggest goals she tallied came in the PIAA quarterfinals when she scored in the final five minutes to help sink Great Valley 12-9. The junior also led the team in points (119) and assists (62).

A/M Linnea Hughes, Jr., Great Valley

Hughes finished second in scoring for the Patriots with 59 goals. Her size in the middle of the field gave teams headaches all season long. One of her best performances came in an 8-7 win over Unionville where she scored four goals to help clinch the Ches-Mont League title.

A/M Kristen Knaff, Jr., Great Valley

After scoring 54 goals in her third season, Knaff flourished as one of the Patriots’ top offensive weapons. She scored six goals in the District 1 semifinals game against Conestoga.

A/M Scottie Growney, So., Conestoga

Growney was porbably the quickest player in the area. She had one of the best shots on a team loaded with offensive weapons. She finished with 57 goals and 31 assists.

A/M Vicki Gallivan, So., Kennett

Gallivan led the Ches-Mont League with 82 goals and was a key reason the Blue Demons clinched a District 1 playoff berth. Gallivan showed some of the best hands in the area.

A/M Quinn Benintende, Sr., Unionville

The Temple University-bound attacker finished sixth in the Ches-Mont in goals scored (62). Benintende may have one of the quickest, fastest shots in the area. She also proved to be a great presence on the defensive end of the field.

A/M Tori Barretta, So., Downingtown East

The sophomore was the catelyst for the Cougars offense. She finished second in the Ches-Mont with 74 goals. Her accuracy gave goalies around the area nightmares.

A/M Olivia Muscella, So., Great Valley

Muscella was probably the Patriots’ most valuable player on offense. She led the team in scoring (63) but more importantly she was incredible on draw controls.

D Sarah Nicholson, Sr., Conestoga

The Cornell University-bound defenseman was the anchor of the Pioneers’ defense. As a captain, along with Maggie Stetson, she helped establish one of the most positive cultures of any program in the state. Her voice helped Conestoga achieve its most successful season in school history.

D Brooke Lionetti, Sr., Great Valley

The senior captain led the defense and was an excellent communicator. She helped swallow up the opposition’s ball carriers and force a plethera of turnovers. She’ll play in college at the College of New Jersey (TCNJ).

D Abby Savidge, Sr., Downingtown East

Savidge will continue her lacrosse career at The Naval Academy. The captain helped lead her team to a District 1 playoff win over Spring-Ford (11-5). Not only was she stellar on the defensive end of the field but she contributed to the offense with 13 goals.

G Mia Tornetta, So., Great Valley

Let’s put it this way, if you were to fire a shot on Mia Tornetta, chances are it was going to be stopped. The sophomore goalie was nothing short of incredible. Every goal an opponent tallied on her watch was well earned. She made some of the toughest, and most clutch saves this season. On top of that she was the quaterback of the Patriots defense.
