Toohey connects to lift Garnet Valley to victory
The scorers just keep materializing for Garnet Valley.
Tuesday, Liz Toohey was the person to come through, latching onto the end of a cross by Taylor Buckley to lead the Jaguars to their 10th straight win, 1-0 over Lower Merion.
Ashley Bufano made the 33rd-minute tally stand up with two saves for Garnet valley (10-3, 7-1 Central League).
Also in the Central League:
Strath Haven 2, Penncrest 1: Meagan Laird scored in the second overtime period to earn the Panthers a dramatic win.
Maddy Tannert-Schmidt evened matters in the second half, answering just minutes after Cassidy Moretti opened the scoring for Penncrest.
The Lions got 10 saves from Kayla Allen.
Radnor 3, Springfield 1: Raquel Razavi, Reilly Masterson and Katy Junior found the back of the net to pace the Raiders.
Emily Santana scored in the first half for Springfield, which got eight saves from Madison D’Ambrosio.
Conestoga 4, Ridley 1: Amaya Impriano scored in the second half and Lisa Gale made nine saves, but the Green Raiders couldn’t keep pace.
Haverford 1, Harriton 0: Amelia Durfee scored off a feed from Olivia Butera in the second half to earn the win for the Fords.
Marple Newtown 8, Upper Darby 0: Bri Ferrell scored twice, and both Amanda Goodyear and Nicole Kulp paired a half in net with a goal as the Tigers (7-5-2, 3-5-0) rolled.
Ashley Gura made 14 saves for Upper Darby.
In the Inter-Ac:
Episcopal Academy 4, Notre Dame 2: Jessica Shanahan scored twice, and Tara Boyle scored to go with a helper to lead the Churchwomen to the win.
Julia Dambly notched both of the Irish’s tallies.
Germantown Academy 3, Agnes Irwin 2: Kirstin Burnetta and Emily Fryer scored late in the second half, but the Owls’ furious comeback fell one goal short.
Kendall Shein made 10 saves in goal for the Owls (4-1, 2-1).
In the Tri-State Christian Conference:
Christian Academy 5, King’s Christian 1: Grace Cryan scored twice, and Krystal Mason-Copeland scored her first varsity goal to lead the Cursaders (6-1-2, 5-1-1).
Carli Sitkowski and Lindsay Haseltine also scored for the Crusaders.
