Mercury Wrestling Roundup: Pottsgrove edges Pope John Paul II

Pottsgrove 42, Pope John Paul II 39 >> The Golden Panthers had the advantage in bouts contested while the Falcons benefitted from a four-forfeit advantage (6-2) to score a Pioneer Athletic Conference Frontier Division victory Wednesday.

Charles Sithens’s first-period pin at 126 was Pottsgrove’s only match winner but it was enough when PJP’s Jacob Rau could only decision Pottsgrove’s Noah Frye in the final fout and PJP trailing by six (42-36). PJP winners by pinfall were Nick Tongo (106), Matt Vulakh (120), Ryan Vulakh (160) and Matt Delciotto (170).

Spring-Ford 50, Methacton 13 >> The Rams burst to a 16-0 lead and cruised to a PAC Liberty win over the Warriors.

Bonus point winners for Spring-Ford were Dominic Ortlip (pin at 106), Shane Reynolds (pin at 113), Quinn Tobin (major at 120), Aaron Judge (pine at 132), Zach Needles (technical fall at 145), Chase Smith (pin at 170) and Joey Milano (tech fall at 195). Methacton’s biggest winner was Roman Moser with a major at 160.

Phoenixville 51, Pottstown 24 >> On Alumni night, the Phantoms took down the Trojans thanks in part to pins from Owen Koch (145), Alex Washington (160), Dan Gray (220) and Mason Koch (113). Phoenixville also benefitted from four forfeits.

The Pottstown victors were Justice Harris (decision at 195), Destyn Snyder (pin at 285), Kyleaf July (pin at 132) and Demond Thompson (decision at 138).

Perkiomen Valley 58, Norristown 14 >> Jacob Sturm (182), Luke Ricci (106), Bret Sacks (113), PJ Kakos (126), Jacob Elalfi (145), Riley Kershaw (160) and Eric Jefferies (170) were pinfall winners to lead Perkiomen Valley past Norristown.

Norristown got a pin from Tijear Brittingham (285) and tech fall from Isaiah Tucker (132).
