Faith Christian routs Maritime Charter in District 1/12-A final

BENSALEM >> Faith Christian had a double dip in mind at Bensalem High School Thursday.

One day after the Lions boys team stunned Plumstead Christian to win the District One Class A baseball title the Lions girls were looking to punch their ticket to the upcoming PIAA softball tournament with a win over District 12 champ Maritime Charter.

They barely broke a sweat.

Camryn Logue ripped a single, double and triple and drove in four runs and pitcher Maddie Hausman hurled a one-hitter and fanned 10 as the Lions blanked Maritime, 15-0, Thursday at Bensalem High School to earn a Class A state berth.

“I’m happy that we were able to get everyone in the game,” said Faith head coach Rod Blake. “This is a close team, we don’t have a senior on the team, so to do this this year is really fun.

“That’s what we stressed today, everybody having fun.”

The fun started early, and never let up, as the Lions put up three runs in the first inning, keyed by Karleigh Garber’s two-run single and an RBI infield single by Emily Blake.

More carnage followed in the second, with Logue chasing home a run with a single, two run-producing errors and a wild pitch accounting for four more runs.

By that time it was obvious the game wasn’t destined to last seven innings.

It nearly ended after three when the Lions plated five more runs, keyed by more defensive miscues and the second of a pair of doubles by Myah Browa.

Logue’s bases-loaded double officially ended it in the fourth.

“I was really surprised,” Logue said. “We all thought they were going to be good.

“But we’re excited about going to states.”

“This is the first time the program is going to states in 20 years,” Browa said. “You have to be excited about that.

“We went to the boys game (Wednesday), and they came to see us today. And now we’re going to states together.”
