Garnet Valley ends regular season with win over league champ Haverford

Garnet Valley found the perfect way to cap its regular season slate.

Lindsey Hunt hit a two-run bomb as part of a three-run sixth inning to highlight her 3-for-5, four-RBI day as the Jaguars knocked off Central League champion Haverford, 11-8, Monday.

Becca Halford picked up the win after tossing four-hit ball over 4 2/3 innings of relief, while Kelly McLaughlin and Audrey Shenk both went 2-for-4 with a double in the win.

Lindsay Moran smashed a dinger in her three-RBI day and Heather Lazer drove in two runs.

Strath Haven 7, Radnor 6 >> After years of struggling to compete in the Central League, this could be the season the Panthers make it to the district playoffs. Monday’s win over Radnor may have clinched a berth in the District 1 Class 5A field of 16.

Sophie Bolinger was 3-for-4 with a double and winning pitcher Malia Calciano added two hits and an RBI for the Panthers. Audrey Rosenblum registered three hits for Radnor.

Marple Newtown 3, Springfield 1 >> Paige Benasutti scored on an error and Grace Thorne drove in an insurance run when her single brought in Nicole Atkins in the bottom of the sixth inning for Marple Newtown (7-11, 6-10).

Harriton 5, Penncrest 3 >> Sammy Martin, Tori Boland and Julia Eckels all drove in runs for the Lions (15-4, 12-4) and Victoria Reed, Megan Clancy and Annalise McLarnon scored, but it wasn’t enough against the Rams.

In the Del Val League:

Chichester 13, Academy Park 1 >> Hayley Coale drilled a bases-loaded, bases-clearing double as part of a 2-for-3, five-RBI day, and Nicole O’Donnell doubled twice to highlight her four-RBI day in the Eagles’ rout.

In the Catholic League:

Archbishop Carroll 4, Hallahan 2 >> Mary Clare Boyle popped an RBI double in the sixth inning, then proceeded to shut down Hallahan in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings in the Patriots’ win.

Clair Boylan ripped a three-run double in the third inning.

In the Inter-Ac:

Episcopal Academy 14, Agnes Irwin 7 >> Grace Smith went deep twice for EA and Maddie Loughead was unstoppable, bashing two triples and two doubles, as the Churchwomen doubled up the Owls.

Rajaa Wilcox led AIS with a double and a triple.

In the Ches-Mont League:

Kennett 3, Sun Valley 0 >> Bridget Thomas cracked a pair of hits and Madison Gutowiecz tossed six innings of three-run ball, but the Vanguards’ bats never came to life in the Sun Valley (12-8, 11-8) loss.

In the Catholic Academies League:

Merion Mercy 15, Sacred Heart 0 >> Kiersten Krouse struck out four in four innings and Jess Westerfer drove in three runs as the Golden Bears rolled.
