Mercury All-Area Softball Selections

First Team

Megan Kern, Spring-Ford

Catcher … Junior … Most feared hitter in the league with tremendous power to all fields. Grew as a leader during her junior season and was one of the main reasons Spring-Ford claimed the PAC-10 title. All-State Coaches Association First Team selection. Mercury All-Area POY.

Kelsey Impink, Perkiomen Valley

Infield … Senior … Always reliable defensively. Reached hit No. 100 during the regular season and knocked in the eventual game-winning run in the team’s District 1-AAAA title game victory vs. Avon Grove.

Ana Bruni, Perkiomen Valley

Infield … Senior … Speed on the basepaths made her almost impossible to get out. Led the league with a .557 batting average and was the quintessential leadoff hitter.

Maggie McConney, Spring-Ford

Infield … Junior … Strong arm, strong bat and an overall strong talent. Second Team All-PAC selection who was one of the more feared cleanup batters in the league. Could hit for power and for average.

Emily Jackson, Owen J. Roberts

Infield … Senior … Filled in tremendously with the departure of longtime second baseman Nikki Testa (graduation). Hit .425 and remained a steady presence near the bottom of the lineup for an OJR team that reached the PAC-10 playoffs and the district second round.

Sydney Hayes, Daniel Boone

Infield … Sophomore … Tore up Berks competition, hitting a blistering .571. Only a sophomore, the sky is the limit for the Blazer third baseman.

Rachel Helverson, Perkiomen Valley

Infield … Senior … Her bat cooled off her senior year but the nod goes to Helverson for her reliability in the field. Her 27 hits and 17 RBI are good enough to bump her into the first team.

Sarah Reinert, Boyertown

Outfield … Junior … Speedy outfielder put it all together her junior season, earning PAC-10 first team honors.

Abby Wild, Perkiomen Valley

Outfield/Pitcher … Junior … Playoff effort is included in this decision. Wild was virtually unhittable after coming in relief in the PAC-10 championship game. Her effort in the circle helped guide the Vikings to their first District 1-AAAA title in school history.

Aubrey Seal, Methacton

Outfield … Sophomore … Like Wild, could be called on to pitch and was maybe more dangerous in the circle than she was in the outfield. Strong arm and plenty of speed made her dangerous patrolling center and in the leadoff spot.

Olivia Young, Upper Perkiomen

Outfield … Junior … One of many bright spots for an Upper Perkiomen team that saw steady improvement throughout the season.

Lauren Waller, Boyertown

Senior … Designated Player … Injury didn’t slow her down as she was key component to Bears’ run to the PAC-10 playoffs. Versatile player with a powerful bat.

Megan Stauffer, Methacton

Senior … Pitcher … Rebounded from junior season and finished with a sub-2.30 ERA for the Warriors. Her 8.5-1 strikeout-walk ratio was tops in the conference.
