Main Line softball wrapup: Agnes Irwin blanks Springside Chestnut Hill

The Agnes Irwin softball team defeated Springside Chestnut Hill, 7-0, Wednesday, with a five-run seventh inning. The Owls scored one run in the first inning, and another in the fourth to lead 2-0 headed into the the seventh inning.  The seventh-inning rally started with a double by Dee Karapalides, an RBI double by Caroline Shipe, an RBI triple by Rajaa Wilcox, an RBI single by Michala Maciolek, an RBI single by Lily Zelov and an RBI single by Paige DiLullo.

Maciolek racked up two RBIs on two hits for Agnes Irwin (8-5, 6-4), while Zelov went 3-for-4 and Shipe 2-for-3. AIS freshman pitcher  Paige DiLullo kept SCH off the scoreboard for all seven innings she was in the circle. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on three hits while ringing up two.

In other Main Line high school softball action:

Academy of Notre Dame defeated Baldwin School, 10-5, Thursday. The Irish were led by Katie Mayock (one double, two RBIs), Sophia Marlino (one double, two RBIs) and Michelle Bilotta (one RBI). For Baldwin, the offensive leaders were Sam Martin (one double, RBI), Kara Guernsey (one double), Sam O’Keefe (triple) and Julia Kait (two home runs, four RBIs).
