Mercury-Area Softball Roundup: OJR keeps playoff hopes alive

The Wildcats kept their playoff hopes alive with a big victory over the Falcons, 8-4, on Monday night.

Emily Jackson finished the day 3-for-4 with two runs scored with Darby Stuart (three RBI) and Bridget Guinan (two runs scored) each contributing three hits in the win that leaves the Wildcats 0.5 games back from the final playoff position with four league games remaining.

“In the beginning of the game I told the team that if we wanted to, we could win all these games and make playoffs,” Jackson said. “This game showed how much we wanted it. We have a very big week ahead of us and we’re just working one game at a time.”

Camryn Glenn had two hits and an RBI in the win.

Pottsgove’s Kira Livezey had a team-high three hits in the loss with Jules Dinnocenti finishing 2-for-3 with three RBI. Kelsey Hochstuhl (two runs scored) and Cori Dickinson each had two hits for the Falcons.

Boyertown 5, Pope John Paul II II 4 >> Sarah Reinert went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and three stolen bases as the Bears stayed in the playoff hunt with a victory over the Golden Panthers.

Maddie Cotellese contributed three hits, two RBI and two runs scored in the win with Grace Evan adding two hits and Alyssa Acker two hits and a triple.

Emily Bradley got the win in the circle.

Perkiomen Valley 3, Methacton 2 >> Read story 

Upper Perkiomen 3, Phoenixville 2 >> Lynsey Quinn went 3-for-3 with an RBI while Taylor Lindsay was exceptional in the circle as the Tribe’s three-run second was enough to get past the Phantoms in league play.

Lindsay pitched a complete game, allowing five hits and two earned while striking out 10 and walking two. Laura Frank added two RBI in the win.

Jess Eldridge took the loss in the circle for the Phantoms after pitching seven innings while allowing six hits and three earned and striking out four.

Spring-Ford 10, Pottstown 0 >> The Rams stayed in first place with a victory over the Trojans.

Lawrenceville 16, Hill School 6 >> The Blues fell to their rival despite a big day at the dish from Alexa Giacche, who finished 3-3.
Four of The Hill’s runs were scored thanks to timely hitting by Giacche. She homered in the first inning, doubled in the fourth inning, and singled in the fifth inning.

Lawrenceville easily handled The Hill’s pitching as six hitters combined for 17 hits, 15 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
