Mercury softball roundup: Pottsgrove, Perk Valley post shutouts

Pottsgrove 5, Pope John Paul II 0 >> Kelsey Hochstuhl knocked a two-run double in the third inning as the Falcons took down the Golden Panthers in PAC-10 play.

Jenna Trythall pitched all seven innings, where she limited PJP to no runs on six hits and no walks. At the dish, Trythall finished with a hit and an RBI while Kira Livezey finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Ashley Remington suffered the loss, yielding four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks while striking out four.

Perkiomen Valley 10, Upper Perkiomen 0 >> Abby Wild limited the Tribe to just two hits while Noelle McCullough blasted a home run and the Vikings rolled to a five-inning PAC-10 win.

Wild went all five innings, striking out eight batters and only letting three on. At the dish, Wild was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI while McCullough finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI. Second baseman Rachel Helverson scored two runs batting in the two-hole. Lynsey Quinn took the loss for Upper Perk, yielding nine runs on eight hits across 3-1/3 innings.

Phoenixville 14, Pottstown 2 >> Jamie Deni and Susan Duncan each finished with two hits apiece as the Phantoms blew past the Trojans in PAC-10 play.

Duncan finished with three RBI and two runs scored while Deni scored once. Emily Buckwalter (two runs scored) ripped a triple as Phoenixville used a seven-run third inning followed by a five-run fifth. Jess Eldridge got the win in the circle, limiting Pottstown to two runs and five hits across five innings.

Perkiomen School 6, West-Mont Christian Ac. 2 >> Juliana Haussmann struck out 15 and finished with two triple as the Panthers handled the Wings in Tri-County League action.

Haussmann finished 3-for-3 at the plate, scoring twice and knocking in a run while stealing thee bags on the day. In the circle, she went all seven innings, limiting West-Mont to just five hits and two walks. Lena Felix (triple, two runs scored) and Lauren Cola (double, run scored) each finished 2-for-3 in the win. Grace Flynn was 3-for-3 for West-Mont.
