Bogardus’ bomb all Jenkins, Ridley need

Heather Bogardus’ solo homer in the bottom of the fifth inning was the difference in Ridley’s 1-0 Central League win over

All-Delco pitcher Leigh Ann Jenkins did the rest, completing a two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts. Shortstop Jade Laughlin turned a clutch double play in the top of the seventh to thwart ’Stoga’s comeback hopes.

The Green Raiders evened their record at 1-1.

Radnor 6, Marple Newtown 1 >> Radnor (2-0) ace Brooke Nicander scattered four hits, walked none and fanned eight. Nicander helped her cause with two RBIs.

Sydney Aljian (double, two runs, RBI), Lila Howard (two RBIs), Kim Mullarkey and Megan McGrath all banged out two hits.

Springfield 4, Penncrest 1 >> Caitlin Chambers supplied two hits and two RBIs for the Cougars (2-0, 2-0), who scored all of their runs in the first inning. Victoria Ciasullo and Jenny Caggiano each had two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Tori DePietro (four Ks) was the winning pitcher.

Upper Darby 10, Garnet Valley 9 >> A four-run sixth inning gave the Royals (2-0, 2-0) the lead to stay. Carli Benozich homered, doubled and had three RBIs. Erin Redden (two runs) and Alexandria Witmer (two RBIs) each chipped in with two hits.

Reva Alderman was 3 for 4 with a homer and Sam Tomasetti added two hits, including a double, and two runs scored. Lindsay Hunt was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs.

Strath Haven 7, Harriton 2 >> The Panthers scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to pull away from the visiting Rams. Freshman Ella Kane roped a triple and sophomore Malia Calciano earned the win from the circle.

In the Catholic League:

Bonner & Prendergast 6, Archbishop Wood 0 >> Molly McNulty pitched a shutout and smacked a triple as the Pandas rolled in their season opener. Melissa Callahan roped two doubles and knocked in three runs.

Cardinal O’Hara 6, Little Flower 2 >> The Lions passed their first test of 2016 behind Jessica Skarren’s three-RBI day and Mary Pat Brough’s steady pitching. Emily Loomis finished 3 for 3 with a triple and Maura Kane was 2 for 3 with a pair of runs scored.

In the Bicentennial League:

Morrisville 18, Delco Christian 8 >> Ronnie Marie Flasco was 3 for 3 with three RBIs and stole a base for the Knights (0-1). Kaelyn Cooper also drove in three runs in the loss.
