Bristol sets up BAL playoff with Christopher Dock with win over Lower Moreland

BRISTOL — Upon hearing the news that Christopher Dock defeated New Hope-Solebury earlier in the day in a Bicentennial Athletic League (BAL) matchup, the Bristol girls new they needed to go out last night and take care of business against Lower Moreland.

The Lady Warriors did just that, pouncing on the Lady Lions for seven runs in the first three innings on their way to a 10-0, mercy-ruled win Wednesday night, May 13 at the Borough’s Memorial Ballfields.

“Coming off a loss to Cristopher Dock that was disappointing, it’s good to come back and get a win and get the girls back to the winning mode and start doing things right and start working on some things that we need to improve on,’ said Bristol assistant coach Mike McCready.

On Senior Night in her last regular season game, shortstop Olivia D’Emidio belted her 100th hit, a single to right-centerfield that scored infielder Kate Santana and put the Warriors on top, 2-0.

“I knew I was somewhere in the 90s but I didn’t know it was 100 until they said it on the microphone,’ said D’Emidio. “It was so exciting; I really liked it a lot.’

“I never thought I would get a hundred. I thought I would get close to it. But, it’s really exciting that I finally got a hundred because Mary Wallick got it and she was such a leader. I wanted to get a hundred too and I really wanted to get my name on the banner.’

The win puts the Warriors in the BAL Championship battle with Dock set for Thursday, May 21 at New Hope-Solebury. Both teams are 12-1 in the league with their lone BAL losses coming at the hands of the other.

Errors cost the Pioneers the first time the sides squared off in Bristol as the Warriors ran off with a 10-4 triumph in a contest in which Dock committed eight errors. Bristol didn’t make that many mistakes the second time the teams played in Lansdale but three field gaffes cost the Warriors in the form of five unearned runs by the opposition as the Pioneers ran off with a 7-0 triumph.
