Mercury Girls Soccer Roundup: Pottstown captures first-ever Frontier win

Pottstown 1, Upper Merion 0 >> Melissa Coleman’s first-half goal proved enough for the Trojans to claim victory in this PAC Frontier Division contest Thursday.

It was the Pottstown program’s first in-division victory after scoring a pair of crossover wins (Norristown, Perkiomen Valley) earlier in the season.

Emme Wolfel made eight saves in goal to record the clean sheet for Pottstown.

Spring-Ford 3, Boyertown 1 >> Spring-Ford rallied from a goal down in the second half with a goal from Ella Curry and a double by Kelly Dombroski in a key PAC Liberty matchup.

Boyertown, coming off of a 0-0 overtime draw with league leader Owen J. Roberts a night before, led 1-0 at halftime on a goal from Emma Elwell.

The win strengthened the Rams’ second-place standing in the PAC Liberty (6-2 division, 9-2 PAC, 10-2 overall) while Boyertown fell to 3-3-2, 6-3-2 and 8-4-3 overall.

Pope John Paul II 3, Phoenixville 1 >> Senior defender Julie Cherneskie had a goal and two assists as PJP pulled away from Phoenixville in a PAC Frontier matchup. Delanie Didier and Maddie D’Elia also scored for the Golden Panthers (5-2, 6-4, 6-6-1). Gabrielle Perrotto, assisted by Leeza Galli, scored in the first half for Phoenixville (5-3, 6-5, 7-6-1). Phoenixville goalie Ella Stout had 10 saves; PJP counterpart Stacy Kormos made eight.

Pottsgrove 2, Upper Perkiomen 0 >> The Falcons won via shutout on Senior Night to stay undefeated in PAC Frontier play. Skylar Glass scored her 14th and 15th goals on assists from Hailey Strain and Hannah Phillips. In goal, Upper Perk’s Hannah Landis made 12 saves while Pottsgrove’s Summer Walker needed two stops for the shutout.

Perkiomen Valley 2, Methacton 0 >> Sydney Marasco and Cassidy Polignano both scored on long-range shots to give the Vikings a PAC Liberty win.

Madison Reehl assisted on Polignano’s goal that sealed the game late in the second half. PV keeper Riley Hill had four saves while Methacton counterpart Liz Greene had four saves and 17 touches.

Perkiomen School 6, Life Center 0 >> Cece Vasallo’s two-goal outing headed the Panthers in their Penn-Jersey League shutout of Life Center Academy.

Sasha Vasallo, Lois Yuh, Rianne Moll (one assist) and Maddi Springer completed Perkiomen’s scoring, Serena Dellberto was also credited with an assist in helping the Panthers open a 5-0 lead after one half.
