Rake, Sorrentio lead the way for Carroll

Morgan Rake and Bella Sorrentino were outstanding in the central defense as the Archbishop Carroll girls soccer team opened the Catholic League season with a 2-0 triumph over Cardinal O’Hara Friday.

Melissa Stahl scored twice in the first nine minutes off assists from Claire Boylan and Juliet Rossetti. Alex Varricchio and Gina Hoening made three saves each to combine on the shutout.

Carrie Zamonski made nine saves for O’Hara.

St. Hubert 10, Bonner-Prendergast 2: The Bambis jumped out to a 7-1 halftime lead and never looked back. Keely Weiss and Meghan Campbell scored for the Pandas.

In nonleague action:

Kennett 4, Chichester 3: A goal by Averie Florshutz was the difference for the Ble Demons. Mackenzie Fredericks, Desiree Pannah and Monigo Karnley had one goal each for the Eagles.

In the Bicentennial League:

Delco Christian 8, MaST Charter 0: Alex Thompson collected two goals and three assists as the Knights opened league play with a big win. Kailey Neef added two goals and two assists, while Julia Kyne also scroed twice for DC.
