Rested Sacred Heart rolls behind Quigley

Sacred Heart Academy showed no signs of rust Monday in its first basketball game in 10 days.

Kyra Quigley paced three players in double figures with 19 points as the Lions rolled over Villa Joseph Maria, 62-42, in Catholic Academies girls basketball action Monday.

Quigley also pulled down 13 rebounds and blocked five shots before fouling out. Jaycee Webster hit three 3-point field goals and finished with 16 points. Kayleigh Doyle chipped in with 11 points and six assists.

Sacred Heart (6-4, 2-2) outscored VJM, 46-30, in the final three quarters to break the game open.

In the Inter-Ac League:

Notre Dame 74, Agnes Irwin 28 >> The Irish jumped on the Owls early, outscoring AIS, 22-8, in the first quarter and taking a 41-15 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Mandy McGuirk led a balanced attack with 18 points. Allie Lynch added 12 points and Maggie Pina pitched in with 11. A total of 10 players scored for the Irish.

Katie Anderson led Agnes Irwin with 15 points.

In nonleague action:

Chester Charter School for Arts 52, Morrisville 41 >> Logan Handy made sure the Sabers got off to a fast start. She scored the first 15 points to help CCSA jump out to a 17-9 lead in the first quarter and never look back.

Handy led all scorers with 35 points. She also grabbed six rebounds and made four steals. Ceyrah Williams added six points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals. D’Ayzah Atkinson chipped in with eight points.
