PIAA to have conference call regarding potential postponements

According to the Citizen’s Voice Steve Bennett, the PIAA will have a conference call Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. to determine the course of action for PIAA state basketball playoff games slated for Thursday night.

Thursday’s games come into question because of a dumping of significant snowfall along the northeast portion of the state from Winter Storm Stella.

The city of Reading received nearly a foot of snow while areas north received one-two feet of snow from Monday night to Tuesday morning. Reading is supposed to host six playoff games Thursday night, three at Reading High’s Geigle Complex, the other three at Santander Arena, the home of Philadelphia Flyers’ affiliate Reading Royals. Hamburg, another site of a triple header, received 16 inches of snow, with Liberty HS in Bethlehem receiving 13 inches of snow.

According to Bennett, the PIAA hopes to have word on potential postponements by 11 a.m.
