Curran and Leonhardt power Notre Dame

Lauren Curran and Mia Leonhardt combined for seven goals as the Academy of Notre Dame rolled to a 9-1 victory over Penn Charter in Inter-Ac League field hockey action Thursday.

Curran scored the first three goals of the game, the first two assisted by Riley Gillin. Curran finished with four goals. Leonhardt scored three straight goals with Jess Schneider assisting on two of them.

Gillin also added a goal as the Irish (11-0-1, 4-0) remained unbeaten.

Also in the Inter-Ac:

Agnes Irwin 3, Springside Chestnut Hill 0 >> Ariana Karalis notched a hat trick, Hadley Evans and Emma van der Veen had one assist apiece and Paige DiLullo had five saves for the Owls (5-4, 2-2).

In the Central League:

Strath Haven 2, Harriton 1 >> Tess Bailey scored the game-tying goal, and Sophia Green netted the game winner with 1:04 remaining to seal the victory. Ashley Haffell assisted on both goals, and goalkeeper Bre Raysor made 11 saves for the Panthers, who trailed 1-0 at halftime.

Radnor 4, Marple Newtown 0 >> Barbara Civitella had a pair of goals and Page Lowry added two assists for the Raiders, who outshot the Tigers 28-1.

Olivia Shea and Brigid Lowry scored one goal each for Radnor, who tallied all four of their goals in the second half.

Conestoga 11, Penncrest 0 >> Liz Hussey made 11 saves for the Lions in the losing effort.

In the Catholic Academies League:

Gwynedd Mercy 4, Sacred Heart 2 >> Mary Franz and Dani Santora scored one goal each in the second half, both of which were assisted by Julia Flood. Gigi Backe had 13 saves for the Lions (5-11, 2-9).

In the Bicentennial League:

Plumstead Christian 4, Delco Christian 1 >> Mikayla Schuster scored in the 16th minute and goalkeeper Rachel Yeung had seven saves for the Knights (1-9, 1-9).

In nonleague action:

Episcopal Academy 4, Tower Hill 0 >> Macy Szukics and Gianna Pantaleo recorded a goal and an assist apiece for the Churchwomen (5-1-2). Kelly Smith chipped in a goal and Sofia Acosta also had an assist.
