Field Hockey: Whaley scores in OT to power Ridley past Sun Valley

Allison Whaley scored the game-winning goal with 8:36 remaining in overtime to lift Ridley over Sun Valley, 4-3, in a nonleague field hockey match.

Julia Neeley netted a hat trick, Corrine Stratton had an assist and goalie Megan Frame made five saves as the Raiders (1-2) picked up their first win of the season.

Erin Nearey, Shalane Buck and Erica Worthington all scored one goal each for the Vanguards.

In other nonleague action:

Notre Dame 7, Bonner & Prendergast 0 >> Vivi Trumpbour scored the first two goals of the game, Mia Leonhardt scored three of the next four goals and Lauren Curran followed up with a goal and three assists to pace the Irish (4-0).

Archbishop Carroll 4, Germantown Academy 3 >> Alex Almonte scored the game winner with over 10 minutes left. Keri Daly scored off of a penalty corner and Maeve Riehman had a goal and an assist for the Patriots (3-0).

Episcopal Academy 3, Lawrenceville School 2 >> Maddie Rehak, Macy Szukics and Gianna Pantaleo all had one goal apiece while goalkeeper Caroline Kelly stopped five shots for the Churchwomen (1-0).

Garnet Valley 9, Interboro 0 >> Sophie Kingsborough tallied a hat trick, Ciara Burke scored twice and Tina Rawa added a goal and a pair of assists for the Jaguars.

Gab MacDonald had 20 saves for the Bucs (2-2).
