Tornetta’s five goals power Agnes Irwin past Ridley

Agnes Irwin’s Julianna Tornetta showed why she’s a two-time All-Delco selection and a member of the USA U19 field hockey team.
The junior kicked off her junior season with five goals as the Owls doubled up Ridley, 8-4, in the season opener for both teams Friday.
Tornetta and Jax van ver Veen were solid in the midfield. Van ver Veen added one goal and one assist, as did Sydnery Wolfington.
Emily Johnston tallied three times for the Raiders.

Strath Haven 2, Rustin 0 >> Strong defense powered the Panthers as goalie Gillian Gunn only had to make two saves in the season debut.
Olivia Fender tallied the first goal and Maddie Stabinski converted a pass from Meg Lashley to stake Strath Haven to a 2-0 halftime lead.
Sacred Heart 6, Springfield 0 >> Elizabeth McLaughlin kicked off her junior season with one goal and two assists. McLaughlin scored the first goal for the Owls and then fed Emily Franz for a pair of goals and a 3-0 lead.
Danielle Santora added one goal and one assist, while goalie Coleen Visser stopped five shots. Cammy Shay recorded 10 saves for Springfield.
Gwynedd Mercy 4, Cardinal O’Hara 3 >> Maddie Meagher’s goal 6:18 into overtime was the difference for visiting the visiting Monarchs.
Cardinal O’Hara roared back from a 3-0 deficit to send the game into overtime. Sara Hayes led the way with one goal and one assist. Kelly O’Hare and Kamayla Gallen also scored for the Lions. Goalie Jen Ahearn made nine saves.
Oxford 3, Upper Darby 2 >> A two-goal day from Kerianne McGee was not enough to lift the Royals over the Hornets.
McGee tallied in the first half off an assist from Taylor McElaney and put home her second goal off of a feed from Erin Redden. Goalie Veronica Hudson made 10 saves for the Royals.
Katie Dodson had one goal and one assist for Oxford.
Merion Mercy 5, Haverford High 2 >> Caroline Steller scored twice in the second half to help the Golden Bears pull away from a 1-1 deadlock at halftime.
Tess Horan tallied both goals for Haverford, while goalie Emily DiGaetano made 12 saves.
Kennett 5, Interboro 1 >> Olivia Murphy was all over the field for the Bucs. She scored the only goal and had a defensive save. Ro Murphy also had a defensive save, while goalie Jess Hinchey made 13 saves.
Unionville 11, Garnet Valley 0 >> Goalie Bridget Elison turned back 19 shots for the Jaguars.
Coatesville 4, Academy Park 0 >> The Raiders used single goals from Robyn Oberholtzer, Karley hess, Marcella Booz and Hannah Brown to get past the Knights.
Veronica Bauman made four saves in goal for AP.
Harriton 8, Shipley 1 >> Carly Adams set the tone on offense with four assists, three to Emma Arronson. Sophie Grady chipped in with two goals for the Rams.
