The Perkiomen Valley boys soccer team entered Wednesday knowing anything but a loss would qualify it for the Pioneer Athletic Conference Final Four.
One hundred minutes later, job done.
The Vikings lived up to their difficult defensive billing by denying high-scoring Spring-Ford through regulation and overtime for a 0-0 draw on Wednesday afternoon at Spring-Ford.
Perkiomen Valley moved to 7-1-5 in the PAC (9-1-6 overall), its 26 league points earning it a wild card spot for the league playoffs. The semifinals are set for Tuesday, Oct. 16, 7 p.m. at Owen J. Roberts.
PV’s Josh Moyer recorded his eighth clean sheet, needing three saves thanks in part to the strong play of defenders AJ Hansen, Brian Holmes, Mark Pirrone, and Steven Warren. Spring-Ford’s Ray Fortebuono also made three saves for his 11th shutout.
Spring-Ford had already clinched the Liberty Division title a night earlier with a 5-3 win over Owen J. Roberts. The Rams finished their league campaign at 8-0-2 Liberty, 11-0-2 PAC, 13-1-3 overall.

Celio Pompeu, Ronald Mafunzwaini, Julian Gomez, Preston Rushmore, Israel Neto and Rhys Armstrong did the scoring while Aurie Briscoe needed just one save to preserve the shutout. Alan Kim made seven saves for Hill.
