Mercury Boys Soccer Roundup: Hill School ups record to 1-1

The Hill School boys soccer team emerged from a 1-1 halftime break with two quick goals then held on to claim a 3-2 non-conference win over Pennington School on Wednesday afternoon.

Trailing 1-0 early, Hale Lombard answered for The Hill by drawing a penalty and converting it in the 13th minute. Aidan Sullivan converted a free kick from outside the box to give the Blues a 2-1 lead in the 46th minute, a lead they then extended through Euan Forrest with an assist from Zach Barrett. Mansour Diop and Nico Herrerias each scored for Pennington. Blake Groff made six saves for The Hill (1-1 overall), including one on the final minute on Diop.

Perkiomen Valley 3, Pottsgrove 0 >> Goals by Max Chamorro and Anthony Pellerito keyed the Vikings’ shutout of the Falcons in their Pioneer Athletic Conference divisional crossover game.

The goals by Chamorro (12th minute, assisted by Mark Pirrone) and Pellerito (77th minute, assisted by Matt McCabe) bookended an own goal by Pottsgrove in the 36th minute. Josh Moyer needed to make just two saves to give Perk Valley the clean sheet, and Luke Kaiser had three-save goaltending for the Falcons.
