Goalie Freese uses his head to give Episcopal a draw

Matt Freese lived out every goalie’s dream when the Episcopal Academy keeper ran the length of the field and headed in the tying goal in the final minute of regulation, as the Churchmen (7-6-3 overall, 0-2-2 league) drew with Inter-Ac League rival Germantown Academy, 1-1, Friday.

Freese went the distance in posting six saves, with his goal coming off a corner kick by Johnny Cunningham.

In the Tri-State Christian Conference:

Christian Academy 4, Pilgrim Christian 2: Evan Needs racked up two goals and an assist, Brit Haseltine scored twice and Anthony O’Brien set up a goal while directing play from midfield for the Crusaders (13-0-1, 11-0).

In nonleague matches:

Penncrest 2, Penn Wood 0: Jude Morgan converted a penalty kick 10 minutes into the second half and Quinn McIntyre scored on a rebound less than 5 minutes later. Thomas Rounds earned the shutout by stopping 11 shots.

Interboro 4, Upper Merion 2: The Bucs (14-3) extended their winning streak to 11 behind a pair of goals by Diego Lopez.

Wissahickon 2, Radnor 1: The penalty kick benefited the Raiders (10-8) in the first half when James Cellucci converted from the spot, but a controversial call on a tackle near the edge of the box in the second OT led to the visitors winning it on a penalty kick.
