Rodchester provides spark for TCA

Evan Needs and Brit Haseltine may be the driving force behind The Christian Academy boys soccer team’s offense, but it was right back Brandon Rodchester who got things going for the Crusaders Friday.

Rodchester converted a through ball from Haseltine in the fourth minute top power TCA to a 6-0 Tri-State Christian Conference victory over King’s Christian.

Needs collected four goals, three in the second half, and one assist. Haseltine finished with one goal and three assists. Goalie Joseph Opdenaker stopped two shots to post the shutout.

In nonleague action:

Marple Newtown 10, Chichester 5: Hunter Dyson collected four goals and Kostas Slikas added three scores for the Tigers. Jared Sullivan and Austin Wilson netted two goals each for Chi.

Strath Haven 2, Kennett 1: Single goals from Joe Soffer and Cam Ricciardi powered the Panthers past the Blue Demons.

Interboro 4, Faith Christian 1: Diego Lopez scored twice and keeper Brandon Weldon made eight saves to pace the Bucs (1-2) to their first win of the season. Nick Franz added one goal and one assist.

Friends Central 5, Delco Christian 1: The Phoenix tallied three times in the first half to hand the Knights their first loss of the season. Nathan Daniel got DC on the board with an unassisted goal in the second half.
