Garnet Valley plays it Smart in win

Garnet Valley’s Dylan Smart registered the game-winning goal in overtime to lift his club past Archbishop Carroll, 2-1.

Ryan Hurley found the back of the net early in regulation to put the Jaguars up, 1-0. The Patriots’ Reggie Lloyd evened the score in the waning moments of the opening half.

Mike Miller assisted on Hurley’s tally. The Jags also received a solid effort at in the midfield by freshman Andrew Weir.

Ben Schellberg totaled seven saves in goal for Garnet Valley and Tom Lutz thwarted nine shots in net for Carroll.

In other nonleague action:

Academy Park 2, Christian Academy 2: TCA’s Brit Haseltine tied the contest 15 minutes into the second half. Evan Needs also found the back for the net for the Crusaders.

Paul Freeman tallied both first-half goals for the Knights (0-1-1) and Michael Satimehin had one assist. Troy Macauley made three saves in net for AP.
