Mercury All-Area 2016 Boys Lacrosse Selections

FIRST TEAM
Danny Cassidy, Spring-Ford
Junior midfielder was an undeniable force all over the field, his sharpshooting netting him 50 goals in addition to 19 assists for the Rams. Cassidy carried Spring-Ford to a sixth PAC title in a row, 21-3 record and the District 1 fifth-place game. Cassidy was an All-Eastern Pa. Lacrosse Coaches Association team selection.

Jack Colt, Owen J. Roberts
Senior attack was the Wildcats’ influential playmaker while scoring a team-high 44 goals and 38 assists. Colt, who will continue his career at Muhlenberg, guided Owen J. Roberts to a runner-up finish in the PAC, 13-7 record and a berth in the District 1 playoffs.

Shawn Coulter, Perkiomen Valley
Junior midfielder had 44 goals and 25 assists for a team-high 69 points for the Vikings. A team-first presence for PV, Coulter led the Vikings to the PAC Final Four, a 12-7 record and the second round of the District 1 playoffs.

Kyle Derrickson, Methacton
Junior defender with superior athleticism led the Warriors rearguard for another season, guiding Methacton to an 8-10 finish.

Liam Hare, Spring-Ford
Senior defender was the complete player as the leader of the Rams’ superb defensive unit while contributing as a wing on faceoffs and in transition which helped him to 12 goals and five assists. Chosen the PAC’s Most Valuable Player and Mercury All-Area Player of the Year, Hare led Spring-Ford to a sixth-straight PAC title, 21-3 record and the program’s best finish. Set for St. Joseph’s, Hare was an All-EPLCA selection.

Jake Hvazda, Spring-Ford
Senior attack was the elusive, quick-striking fixture of the Rams’ offense, scoring 57 goals and 37 assists (second-best in PAC). Hvazda helped Spring-Ford to a sixth-straight Pioneer Athletic Conference title, 21-3 record and the program’s best finish by reaching the District 1 fifth-place game. Hvazda, who will play at York College, was an All-Eastern Pa. Lacrosse Coaches Association team selection.

Nick Marren, Perkiomen Valley
Junior defender with a penchant for forcing turnovers (averaged greater than two per game) had 38 groundballs for the Vikings, who reached the PAC playoffs, District 1 second round and finished 12-7. Marren is a Lehigh commit.

Ray Orcutt, Spring-Ford
Junior midfield sniper snared 28 goals and 19 assists for Spring-Ford. Orcutt helped the Rams to a sixth-straight PAC title, 21-3 record and the program’s best finish. Orcutt has committed to Division I Monmouth.

Justin Schwenk, Spring-Ford
Senior short stick specialist was nearly automatic on the faceoff, his 87-percent win-rate firmly among the state’s elite for the Rams. Schwenk, who also chipped in 12 goals and four assists, lifted PAC champion Spring-Ford to a 21-3 mark and best finish in program history. Bound for Division I Monmouth, Schwenk was an All-Eastern Pa. Lacrosse Coaches Association selection.

Kevin Todd, Spring-Ford
Senior was the complete attacker for the Rams as he scored a PAC-leading 59 goals, 44 assists and 103 points. The determined, business-like Todd led Spring-Ford to a 6th straight PAC championship, 21-3 record and the best finish in program history (District 1 quarterfinals, fifth-place game). Todd, who will play at Division I Richmond, was an All-Eastern Pa. Lacrosse Coaches Association team selection.

Dan Yednock, Boyertown
Junior long stick midfielder was an important presence against opposing middies for Boyertown, which qualified for the PAC playoffs and finished 8-10.

Gavin Yingling, Boyertown
Senior goalie brought a dynamism between the posts as a first-year starter for Boyertown, which qualified for the PAC playoffs and finished 8-10. Selected as the PAC’s Defensive MVP, Yingling will continue his career at Division II Limestone College (Gaffney, S.C.).
