Brennan’s bucket a winner for Garnet Valley

Garnet Valley’s usual suspects were on the scene Tuesday. But in the final minute, Cade Brennan played the hero.

Brennan scored 13 points, including the game-winning basket in the final seconds as Garnet Valley topped Ridley, 51-49, in Central League action.

Brandon Starr led Garnet Valley (8-4, 4-3 Central) with 18 points, and Austin Laughlin chipped in 14 points.

Damir Fleming led Ridley (5-6, 3-4) with 16 points. Jimmy Bramwell added 12 points.

Also in the Central League:

Penncrest 47, Radnor 43 >> Tyler Norwood paired a game-high 18 points with six assists, and Justin Ross threatened a double-double with 10 points and eight boards to lead the Lions to a 10th straight victory.

Mike Mallon came up big down the stretch with 13 points and six rebounds for Penncrest (10-2, 7-0).

Vernon Harper scored 17 points to pace Radnor (4-7, 1-6), while Mason Ressler contributed 11.

Strath Haven 39, Marple Newtown 36 >> John Harrar yielded his obligatory total of 20 points and 11 rebounds, and the Panthers got the job done at the line in the fourth quarter to hang on after surmounting a five-point halftime deficit.

Jordan Graves added eight points for Haven (9-2, 6-1) and Chris Rosini was 6-for-6 from the line.

Mike May led Marple with 14 points, and Mark Dever canned four triples to score six for Marple (3-8, 1-6).

Harriton 78, Springfield 69 >> Great Orjih erupted for a career-high 24 points, and Mike Webb poured in 15, but the Cougars (6-5, 4-3) fell short.

Kyle Sullivan added 12 points before fouling out.

Will Esposto and Idris Ransom scored 17 points each to propel Harriton.

Conestoga 51, Haverford 28 >> Trey Blair scored 10 points and Matt Gillen added seven, but the Fords (1-10, 0-7) fell to the Pioneers, who remain unbeaten in the league.

Lower Merion 64, Upper Darby 52 >> Magd Adelwehab scored 16 points, and Noah Walker added 14 for the Royals.
Bayir Hodges rounded out the double-figures scorers with 11 points for Upper Darby (1-8, 1-6).

Terrel Jones led Lower Merion with 22 points.

In the Ches-Mont League:

Kennett 65, Sun Valley 54 >> Vinny DeAngelo scored 16 points, but the Vanguards couldn’t pull out a second straight overtime contest.

Ishy Ahmad added 13 points, and Marvin Freeman chipped in eight for Sun Valley (3-8, 1-5).

In the Bicentennial League:

Phil-Mont Christian 36, Christian Academy 34 >> Sam Geathers led the Crusaders with 10 points, but two Phil-Mont foul shots with seven seconds to play doomed TCA (5-6, 3-4).
