The West-Mont Christian junior was never more motivated to keep up the trend than Friday night.

Jackson, who sat on 999 points entering a Tri-County League meeting with Kimberton-Waldorf, made quick work of the milestone on a contested layup in transition for the opening basket of the game to surpass 1,000 career points. He went on to score 35 as West-Mont handed Kimberton-Waldorf 57-30.

The game was halted and Jackson was presented with a black commemorative basketball by West-Mont headmaster Dr. James Smock.

“I’ve been thinking about it since freshman year,” Jackson said of reaching a grand. “I think last year when the area leading scorers came out and I saw that I was at or near the top and I was sitting at 750 (career points) and I’m only a sophomore, I realized this is really in my grasp. It really motivated me to get it.”

Jackson, who has attended West-Mont since kindergarten and lives in Exeter, was made to wait Thursday after his 26 points came up a point short in a home defeat to Collegium Charter.

“I called it the day before. I told my friends, ‘I’m the type of guy who will get 999 and have to wait,’” Jackson said. “I was up until 1 a.m. thinking about it.”

Jackson was aided in scoring by the Wings’ Daniel Mayh (10 points) and Christian Palumbo (8).
