Haverford School baseball coach Bob Castell earns 400th win

Haverford – Haverford School baseball head coach Bob Castell captured his 400th career win after the Fords defeated Shipley, 2-1, in the quarterfinals of the PAISAA tournament May 24. The Fords advanced to the semifinals of the PAISAA Tournament behind the hot bat of Calvin Costner, who had two hits in the contest. Costner also scored the winning run for Haverford, while Tyler Dunbar earned the complete game victory on the mound.

Haverford School ended its season three days later with a 4-1 loss to Malvern Prep in the PAISAA semifinal at Upper Perkiomen High School.  Calvin Costner had a triple and scored Haverford’s only run.
The Fords finished the season with a 19-14 record. Leading the way for the Fords this season was Bryan Hyland, who batted .447, with 46 hits, 46 RBIs, eight home runs, 15 doubles, 25 runs scored scored and a .500 batting average with runners in scoring position.
