Episcopal uses trio of pitchers to stop GA


Kyle Virbitsky, Jack O’Reilly and Isaiah Payton combined on a seven-hitter as Episcopal Academy topped Germantown Academy, 5-2, Tuesday in Inter-Ac League baseball.

Virbitsky allowed four hits in 3 2/3 innings to get the win. Payton tossed two scoreless innings to earn the save. Cam Van Hoorebeke and Dylan Everly paced the offense with two RBIs each.

Penn Charter 14, Haverford School 6 >> Mike Siani and Joe Lancellotti combined to drive in seven runs for the Quakers. The Fords managed four singles against three pitchers.

In the Del Val League:

Interboro 16, Penn Wood 1 >> Tariq Asadi went 2-for-2 with a three-run triple and fanned eight in tossing three hitless innings. Anthony Pagan (3-for-3) also knocked in three runs for Interboro.

Academy Park 7, Chester 2 >> Nick Wiseley broke the game open with a two-run single in the fourth inning. Barry Brown added two hits and two RBIs, and Matt Thomas struck out 12 in six innings to get the win.

In the Bicentennial League:

Plumstead Christian 4, Delco Christian 3 >> The Panthers won it on a walk-off balk. Losing pitcher Penn Schmidt allowed just one hit and fanned seven in four innings. He also scored one of DC’s three runs.

Church Farm 12, Christian Academy 4 >> Jake Sitkowski went 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs, but he picked up the loss for the Crusaders (0-6, 0-6). Joe Griffith added two hits.
