World-ranked Jenny Haley joins Shipley as Associate Director of Squash

Bryn Mawr >> The Shipley School and the Shipley Squash Academy have announced that world-ranked and former Trinity College captain Jenny Haley will be joining Shipley as the Associate Director of Squash, effective Aug. 1.
Haley, ranked in the top 150 in the world, brings a strong squash background to Shipley, originating in Wales, United Kingdom. She was the 2018-2019 squash captain at Trinity College in Connecticut, a team which finished in the top three in the national college championships each of her four years.
She was a two-time All-American player at Trinity who not only achieved success with the Bantams but also represented the United Kingdom during her junior and senior years more than 12 times, with a highlight being selected to represent Wales in the Women’s World Junior Championships in Boston. Haley was ranked No. 1 in Wales for five consecutive years, number four in Europe, and achieved a world ranking of 133. She joins Shipley Director of Squash Chris Lengthorn as she takes her squash career from world-class college athlete to professional full-time squash coach. Her main responsibilities will include coaching the Middle School girls’ team, assisting the girls’ varsity team, and coaching players enrolled in the Shipley Squash Academy.
“I am very excited to be joining Shipley because I love working as a part of a team towards an end goal,” said Haley. “From my first visit, I could tell that Shipley is a special environment that I could see myself fitting into. Although my college squash career is over, I’m excited about the opportunity to continue working towards a similar goal from a coaching perspective. I am looking forward to guiding young student-athletes in a positive direction, both on and off the squash court.”
Haley, who believes that the best squash is played in a relaxed and fun environment, added, “I think enjoyment is key for progress, so I am excited to work with Chris to ensure that all the players are happy and healthy off the court so they can perform their best on the court.”
Lengthorn said, “I am really excited to welcome Jenny to the school and the coaching staff. Jenny will add a wealth of knowledge that she has accumulated from her world class junior career and an All-American college career. She will really help take our academy and school program to the next level and be a fantastic role model for all student athletes in the Shipley community.”
