Upper Perkiomen’s Fresa rounds out PIAA 2A Championships with second medal

Upper Perkiomen junior Noel Fresa added to her state medal collection Thursday, finishing second in the girls’ 100-yard freestyle on the second day of the PIAA Class 2A Swimming Championships at Bucknell University.

Fresa, who placed third in the 200 free during the first day of states Wednesday, finished the race in 50.96 seconds, behind only Northgate’s Karen Siddoway (50.36), who also won the 200 free.

The Upper Perkiomen 400 free relay comprised of Fresa, sophomore Devin Romanowski, senior Bailey McCausland and senior Madison Modugno advanced to the B final, taking ninth place with a time of 3:39.08.

McCausland also competed individually for Upper Perkiomen in the 100 breaststroke. She finished 28th with a time of 1:10.05.

On Thursday, Fresa captured the bronze in the girls’ 200-yard freestyle. Fresa’s 1:52.63 was bested only by Siddoway (1:49.08) and Northern York senior Kate Luft (1:49.15).

The Upper Perkiomen 200 free relay of Fresa, Romanowski, McCausland and Modugno qualified for the A final in 7th place but disqualified in the final.
