Garnet Valley advances past C.B. East; Haverford’s game pushed to Thursday

Top-seeded Garnet Valley passed its first test in the District 1 Class 6A tournament.

Emily McAteer and Briane Borcky each notched a double-double as the Jaguars disposed of No. 17 Central Bucks East, 46-37.

McAteer led the way with a team-high 13 points and 10 rebounds. Borcky added 11 points, 11 rebounds and five assists for the Jags (23-1), who led 25-17 at halftime.

Madi McKee chipped in with eight points.

Garnet Valley will play the winner of No. 9 Methacton and No. 8 Downingtown East in the quarterfinal round Saturday at 1 p.m. The winner will clinch a berth to the PIAA tournament.

Haverford at Spring-Ford >> Wednesday’s second-round game involving the 13th-seeded Fords and No. 4 Spring-Ford has been postponed to Thursday. Haverford is coming off a 51-36 win over 20th-seeded North Penn in the first round.
