Mercury Girls Swimming Roundup: Owen J. Roberts remains unbeaten

The Owen J. Roberts girls swimming team got balanced scoring Tuesday toward a 99-71 victory over Pope John Paul II that maintained its unbeaten standing in the Pioneer Athletic Conference.

Scoring individual firsts for Roberts (9-0) were Meredith Mutter (200 free, 2:11.59), Lauren Zelinske (200 IM, 2;21.25), Lilia Crew (50 free, 25.75), Olivia Kqira (diving, 172.40 points), Abbey Malmstrom (100 fly, 1:02.61) and Olivia Coyne (100 back, 1:07.81).

Winning individual races for PJP were Lindsey Piontek (500 free, 6:47.95) and Maggie Sullivan (100 breast, 1;25.45).

Methacton 103, Perkiomen Valley 56 >> Alex Ferrance won two individual events to key the Warriors in their PAC meet with the Vikings.

Ferrance took the 200 free (2:06.12) and 100 free (57.62), in addition to swimming a leg of Methacton’s first-place 400 free relay (3:58.54).

Upper Perkiomen 93, Phoenixville 77 >> Noel Fresa won two individual events to head the Indians’ victory over the Phantoms in their PAC meet.

Fresa took the 200 free, in a team-record 1:54.75, and 50 free in 24.78. She also swam a leg of UP’s 200 free relay, whose 1:40.50 clocking was both a new pool and team record; it broke a mark set 21 years ago.

Erini Pappas had two firsts for Phoenixville in the 100 fly (58.58) and 100 back (58.50), both pool records.

Spring-Ford 91, Pottsgrove 67 >> Alyssa DeFlavia and Morgan Gamber figured on three first-place finishes by the Rams in their PAC meet with the Falcons.

DeFlavia won the 200 free (2:11.52) and Gamber the 100 free (1:02.15). They also swam legs on Spring-Ford’s winning 200 free relay, which clocked a 1:50.42.

Blazers go 1-1 >> Daniel Boone split a three-school Central Penn League meet. The Blazers outswam Wyomissing 95-59 but fell in turn to Gov. Mifflin, 142-38.
