Upper Darby’s Flahn shows off versatility in sprints

Gbarwho Flahn continues to show off his versatility.

The senior from Upper Darby won the 60-meter dash in the Division I portion of Track and Field Coaches Association meet at Lehigh University Saturday in a personal-best and state-qualifying time of 7.02 seconds. Flahn has competed in every individual event from the 60 to the 800-meter run this season.

Teammate Aaron Williams (200), Chester’s Malachi Langley (400) and Larry Coaxum of Garnet Valley (triple jump) were the other Delco winners. Chester also took first in the 4 x 400.

Penn Wood’s Timmy Odunjo won silver in the 400. Teammates Tayvon Williams (third in long jump) and Madda Ngaima (sixth in hurdles) also earned medals. The Patriots took fifth in the 4 x 800.

Garnet Valley’s Sean Garrett finished second in the mile while Chris Rudawsky was third in the 800.

In Division II:

Penncrest’s Collin Tait, Chichester’s Dominick Brown, Radnor’s Frank Brown and the 4 x 200-meter relay team from Episcopal Academy all earned gold medals.

Tait won the 200 in a state qualifying time of 23.04 seconds. Brown’s winning time in the 400 (51.49) also met the state qualifying standard. Brown was first in the mile (4:40.06), while the Churchmen won the 4 x 200 in a state qualifying time of 1:34.94.

Penncrest took second in the DMR (11:28.75), 4 x 200 (1:36.14) and 4 x 400 (3:41.77). Other top-three finishes went to Kevin Thomas (third in 60 dash) and Lleyton Winslow (third in 800) from Haverford School, Radnor’s Doug Rosin (third in 3,000) and Penncrest’s Terrance Mason (high jump).

Girls Track

Grace Forbes is having an indoor season to remember.

The Rice-bound senior from Strath Haven broke the school record in the 3,000-meter run for the second time this season Friday night in the seventh Delaware Valley Girls Track Coaches Association meet at Lehigh.

Forbes’ winning time of 10:03.25 shattered the time of 10:08.64 that she set in Week 2. It also was the third-best time in the state this season, according to pa.milesplit.com. She also set the school record in the 800 and mile this season.

Forbes’ victory in the 3,000 Friday night highlighted a big night for the Panthers. Dana Hubbell took fourth in the 60 hurdles in a personal-best time of 9.34 seconds (Pa. No. 10). Abby Loiselle was second in the 600 in a PR of 1:43.40 (Pa. No. 8), and freshman Rowe Crawford placed third in the 1,000 (PR, 3:21.27). The Panthers also were second in the 4 x 800, third in the 4 x 400 and fifth in the 4 x 200.

Episcopal Academy’s Devon Whitaker and Jill McEntee had career nights. Whitaker won the 600 in a personal best 1:41.24 (Pa. No. 6) and McEntee was second in the 1,000 (PR, 3:15.44)

Elicia Moore of Penn Wood won the 800. Chester’s Jiya Clayton took second in the 400. Kiara Kidd of Academy Park took third in the 300, and Ridley’s Meghan Lynch was second in the triple jump. Isabella Ha from Garnet Valley was third in the high jump.
