Mercury Girls Basketball Roundup: Spring-Ford handles Phoenixville

Spring-Ford 59, Phoenixville 33 >> Though Ameerah Green got game scoring honors for the Phantoms Thursday, the Rams exhibited a bit more offensive balance in winning this PAC divisional crossover game.

Lucy Olsen led Spring-Ford with a 14-point outing, followed by Cassie Marte’s 10 and Ariana Magazzolo’s nine. They led the Rams to a 38-11 first-half lead against a Phoenixville unit headed by Green’s 18 points.

Boyertown 45, Pope John Paul II 33 >> Ashley Kapp scored seven of her 16 points in the fourth quarter, and the Bears made 9-of-11 free throws to break open a tight PAC divisional crossover game against the Golden Panthers.

Kallen Bustynowicz scored 16 points for PJP, which went 4-for-4 from the line compared to 14-of-17 for Boyertown.

Perkiomen Valley 70, Pottstown 45 >> Kelly Owens and Katie Hurd combined for 21 points to head the Vikings’ victory over the Trojans in PAC cross-division play.

Owens was leading scorer for the Lady Vikings with 11 points, one more than Hurd’s 10.  Kiyan Cotton scored 14 points to lead Pottstown, which got another 13 from Da’zah Regusters.

Berks Catholic 48, Daniel Boone 19 >> Meghan Leininger had 11 points and Sarah Leininger 10 points to lead the Saints past the Blazers in Berks Conference play.

Courtney Gabbett was Boone’s scoring leader with seven points.

Perkiomen School 34, Barrack Hebrew 33 >> The Panthers were extended to a pair of overtime frames before nipping Barrack Hebrew in their Tri-County League game.

Chardae Stone, who had 20 points for Perkiomen, scored a basket at the buzzer of regulation to force overtime, then had the winning basket with one second remaining in the second OT. Tera Heintz gave the Panthers an additional five points.
