Garnet Valley handles Upper Darby for Central League control

The Garnet Valley wrestling team strengthened its grip on the Central League Wednesday night with a 55-15 victory over Upper Darby.

In a battle of the last two conference champions, the Jaguars (10-2, 4-0) dominated a meet that saw the Royals get three quick points out of the chute. Keito Shaw got a 10-5 decision in the opening bout at 113 pounds.

It was all Garnet Valley the rest of the way.

A string of four consecutive victories by C.J. Wood (120), Griffin Hollingsworth (126), Kevin Puliti (132) and Gavin Hollingsworth (138) set the tone for the Jags. Puliti and Gavin Hollingsworth were victorious by technical fall, the previous two by pin.

Kevin Kerwood (145) got the Royals back in the win column with a fall in four minutes, but the momentum didn’t last long. Ethan Cooper registered a 6-1 decision at 152, and Austin Filippone (160) and Dillon Conlon (170) earned pins to put the Jags well on their way to victory.

Sabbir Uddin was victorious by fall for the Royals at 182. GV’s Daniel Hussain closed the match with a 6-0 decision at 106 on the heels of pins by Sam DiTrolio and Coltin Deery plus a decision by Joe Morrone at 220.

Radnor 60, Harriton 9 >> Pins were made by Noah Pepper (113), Blake Anderson (145), Damian Falcone (170), Kian Bina (195) and Ifeyan Gavin (285) in guiding the Raiders’ pummeling of the Rams.

In the Del Val League:

Chichester 65, Glen Mills 6 >> The Battlin’ Bulls were no match for the Eagles, who received pinfalls by Chase Whartnaby (120), Mason McClure (132), Nick Baney (170) and Williams Asbury (182). Matt Richardson earned a 12-3 decision at 220 pounds, while Marquell Hudnell dominated 16-5 at 160.

Tamir Smith won by fall in the 195-pound match for Glen Mills’ lone victory of the meet.

Interboro 60, Academy Park 21 >> Isiah Fusaro’s victory in the opening bout at 152 pound showed the way for the host Bucs. Shalom Thomas, Nate Shippey and Dom D’Agostino also registered wins by fall for Interboro.
