Trips to New York help three from Delco rewrite Pennsylvania track leaderboard

Running in New York was turned out well for Penncrest’s Patrick Theveny, Kevin Thomas from The Haverford School and Cardinal O’Hara’s Christine Mancini.

All posted the best times in Pennsylvania this season in their respective races, according to pa.milesplit.com.

Theveny finished seventh in the two-mile run in the Hispanic Games at the Armory in the Bronx with a Pa. No. 1 time of 9 minutes, 47.32 seconds. Teammate Garrett Tait was fifth in the unseeded 55-meter dash with a personal-best time of 6.86.

Meanwhile, 36 miles away at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, Thomas turned in a personal best and Pa. No. 1 with a second-place finish in the 55-meter hurdles (7.82 seconds) in the Red Division of the Freedom Games.

The Fords won the 4 x 200 with a Pa. No. 2 time of 1:29.66. Haverford School also was sixth in the 4 x 800. Dan Whaley and Daiyaan Hawkins were fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 300-meter run. Their times, 35.12 and 35.77, were Nos. 4 and 5 in the state this season. Pete Lemmon took fourth in the shot put (45-0).

In the boys White Division, Cardinal O’Hara’s DaNeal Williams took second in the 300 (36.68).

Mancini was third in the Red 1,000-meter run with a Pa. top time of 2:59.45. The Lions also were fifth in the 4 x 800 (10:29.33).

Radnor had a good day at the Kevin Dare Invitational at Penn State. On the boys side, Ethan Zeh was second and Frank Brown seventh in the mile. The Raiders also took fourth in the 4 x 400. In girls action, Keara Seasholtz was eighth in the mile, as was Radnor’s 4 x 400 relay team.

After running a personal-best 9.50 in the preliminary round, Springfield’s Jordyn Chisholm took fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.54).

Eno Enoobong, Chilekasi Adele, Kyle Love, Nwabueze Onyemachi and Hannah Bierling of Bonner & Prendergast all recorded personal-bests in the Collegeville Open at Ursinus College.

Enoobong won the boys 400-meter dash with a time of 52.69 seconds. Adele took third in the shot put (46 feet, 8 inches), Love was third in the 55 hurdles (8.32) and Onyemachi placed third in the 55-meter dash (6.75). The Friars also took fourth in the 4 x 400 to finish fourth in the team standings.

In other boys action, Aidan Doherty of Archbishop Carroll was third in the mile (4:45.98). Ismael Americain of Academy Park was third in the 800 (2:08.27). The Knights also were fourth in the 4 x 800. Dayon Belgrave from Sun Valley took fifth in the 55 hurdles (8.55).

Bierling was one of three Panda throwers to PR. She was third in the shot with a career-best heave of 34-8. Jada Nembard of Archbishop Carroll took fifth in the long jump (14-9). Marple Newtown had two fifth-place finishers, Donna Holt in the 800 (2:31.20) and Meredith Schrock in the 3,000 (11:37.13).
