Reporter Boys Basketball Roundup: Pennridge’s Yoder scores 1,000th point in win over Governor Mifflin

Sean Yoder became the eighth player in the Pennridge boys basketball team history to score 1,000 career points as the senior Navy commit posted a game-high 21 points as the Rams shook off a slow start to beat Governor Mifflin 44-33 at the Boyertown Holiday Tournament Friday.

Yoder, who came into the contest six points from 1,000, hit the milestone on a free throw in the second quarter. Luke Yoder added nine points for Pennridge (7-2, 1-1 SOL Continental), who won their third straight.

The Rams trailed 13-2 after the first quarter but rallied to pull within 18-15 at halftime then outscored Governor Mifflin 29-15 in the second half.

North Penn 56, Perkiomen Valley 52 >> Chris Caputo knocked down five 3-pointers in scoring a team-high 17 points as North Penn went 2-0 at the Perk Valley Holiday Shootout with a victory over the host Vikings.

Mike Chaffee chipped in 13 points for the Knights (6-3, 1-1 SOL Continental) while Solomon Robinson finished with 11 points. Tyler Strechay posted a game-high 24 points for Perk Valley (6-3, 2-1 PAC Liberty), which had its four-game win streak snapped. Zach Krause hit four 3-pointers in collecting 16 points.

Methacton 74, Wissahickon 56 >> Erik Timko connected on four 3-pointers in scoring a game-high 28 points as Methacton cruised past Wissahickon at the Perk Valley Holiday Shootout. 

David Duda hit 3 3-pointers as he had 16 points while Jeff Woodward scored 15 points for the Warriors (6-3, 2-1 PAC Liberty), who led by 12 at halftime and stretched their advantage to 20 at the end of the third.

Eddie Fortescue paced the Trojans (4-5, 2-1 SOL American) with 13 points.

Central Bucks East 54, Dock Mennonite 49 >> Nick Roggio recorded a double-double, hitting five 3-pointers for 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as he earned MVP of the Dock Holiday Tournament as Central Bucks East topped the host Pioneers in the final.

Leo Masterson, who was also named to the all-tournament team, added 14 points for the Patriots (7-1, 2-1 SOL Continental), who have won four straight.

Darius Ellis led Dock Mennonite (5-3, 2-0 BAL Presidents) with 15 points while Jackson Scialanca finished with 11 points.

West Chester Rustin 56, Souderton 53 >> Sam Chouiraf paced Souderton with 15 points in the West Chester Rustin Winter Classic matchup but the host Golden Knights outscored the Indians 16-10 in the fourth after the teams began the quarter tied at 43.

Ivy Pettit had a game-high 16 points for Rustin while Jake Nelson chipped in 12 points. Dom Natale and Andrew Vince both finished with nine points for Souderton (3-6, 0-3 SOL Continental).

Upper Moreland 50, Jenkintown 38 >> Upper Moreland shut out host Jenkintown 11-0 in the second quarter to take a 27-9 lead at halftime and the Golden Bears went on to win the Robert Hopf Memorial Tournament semifinal.

Byron Hopkins and Jahire Johnson both scored a game-high 14 points for UM (5-2, 1-2 SOL American). Cade Lafferty’s 10 points led the Drakes (1-4, 1-3 BAL Constitution).

Bishop Loughlin (N.Y.) 66, Archbishop Wood 57 >> Daeshon Shepherd led Archbishop Wood with 18 points as the Vikings’ three-game win streak was snapped Friday at the Slam Dunk to the Beach in Lewes, Delaware.</div>

Julius Phillips finished with 15 points for Wood (6-2, 2-1 PCL) while Rahsool Diggins added 12 points.

Germantown Academy 73, Strath Haven 57 >> In his first varsity start, Jake Hsu contributed 10 points and seven assists as Germantown Academy led by 14 at halftime and earned a win at the State College Kiwanis Holiday Tournament.

Brian Basile led the Patriots (6-4) with 19 points while Luke Traina added 11 points. Strath Haven’s Luke Edwards scored a game-high 26 points while Ibo Pio tallied 17 points.
