Haverford has big day at Ocean Breeze

Haverford runners found the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island to their liking Saturday.

Aiden Tomov and Brendan Campbell came away with two medals each, and the Fords had six top eight finishes overall at the Bishiop O’Laughlin Games.

Tomov, Campbell, Jack Roth and Josh Fingerhut took first in the 4 x 800-meter relay (8:19.68). Tomov ran the leadoff leg and Campbell brought the baton home. Tomov also was second in the 1,000 (2:33.84), while Campbell took eight in the mile (4:34.59).

They weren’t the only ones to come home with hardware. Curtis Weh took sixth in the long jump (20- 1½), Chasen Wint was sixth in the shot put (46-2) and Cole Gillespie was eighth in the triple jump (39-5).

On the girls side Sunday, All-Delco Elicia Moore of Penn Wood followed up a victory in the 1,000-meter run Saturday at the first Delaware Valley Girl Track & Field Coaches Association meet of the season with a fifth-place in the 600-meter run. (1:38.89). Moore, Briana Lee, Kayla McFadden and Nevia Davis also took third in the 4 x 400 (4:12.02).

Hannah Bierling from Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Pendergast was ninth in the shot put (33-2).
