Schools: Puskovitch breaks two Episcopal records in win over Haverford School

Ivan Puskovitch set the pace early, and his Episcopal Academy teammates followed suit.

Puskovitch set EA pool records in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle to lead his Churchmen to a 99-87 Inter-Ac League win over Haverford School Tuesday.

Puskovitch clocked in at 1 minute, 41.88 seconds in the 200 free. He sped to a 4:30.13 in the 500 free, within three seconds of his Delco record.

Sam Wesley won the 200 individual medley for EA and swam on the pool-record-setting 200 medley relay as well as the winning 400 free relay to clinch the victory. Cole Whitsett set a pool mark in the 100 butterfly (50.70 seconds) after swimming that leg in the medley relay, and Jack Christian won the 100 backstroke. Declan Doherty was the top scorer in diving at 210.68 points.

Brian Brennan won the 50 and 100 free for Haverford School and anchored the winning 200 free relay which set a pool mark. Antonio Octaviano led off that relay, then set a pool mark of 57.71 in the 100 breaststroke.

In the Central League:

Garnet Valley 99, Haverford 82 >> James Greek rule the distance events to allow the Jags’ depth to prevail despite the Fords winning the other six individual swimming events. Greek also anchored the winning 200 free relay team of Bobby Mallon, Kenneth Datta and Griffin Young.

Haverford’s David Abrahams won the 200 IM and 100 breast, and Jackson Graham claimed the 50 free and 100 fly for Haverford, which got a win in diving via Dean Carson’s score of 207.00.

Girls Swimming

Chelsey Liu won the 50 free and brought home the winning 200 medley and 200 free relays as Episcopal Academy’s depth paced it to a 112-67 win over Agnes Irwin in an Inter-Ac League meet.

Hadley DeBruyn won the 200 free, and Kelly Feuzeu Mekoue won the 100 fly. EA finished strong with Emma Lunn and Jovana Sekulic claiming the 100 back and 100 breast, respectively, while Kat Harrar took top honors in diving with a score of 249.90.

Agnes Irwin’s Maddie Aguirre was the only double individual winner on the day by taking the 200 IM and 100 free. She teamed up with 500 free winner Emma Boratto to claim the 400 free relay.

In the Central League:

Garnet Valley 99, Haverford 81 >> Amy Townend (200 IM, 400 free), Catherine Weaverling (200 free, 100 fly) and Noelle DiClemente (50 free, 100 free) won two events each to pass the Jags. Alexa Hipp added a win in the 100 back, and Carson Chapman and Lindsey Chapman keyed a 1-2 finish in diving.

Elsley Hazell earned a win in the 100 breast for the Fords and also swam that stroke in the winning 200 medley relay.
