Mercury Boys Basketball Roundup: Perkiomen rolls West Nottingham

It didn’t take long for the Perkiomen School boys basketball team to get back on the winning track.

A little more than 24 hours, to be exact.

After sustaining their first loss of the season Tuesday, the Panthers responded Wednesday with an 80-65 victory over West Nottingham Academy. They fell behind Haverford School early on the way to a 59-42 setback; but while it started out the same against West Nottingham, Perkiomen played a much stronger second half. The Panthers (6-1) outscored their hosts by a 44-26 count down the stretch to erase WN’s 39-36 advantage in the first half.

Perkiomen’s Keeshawn Kellman led all scorers with 25 points, and he had several spectacular blocks. Tautyvdas Kupstas drilled three threes in the second half en route to finishing with 18 points. Chris Arcidiacono chipped in with 15 for the locals, and Niels Lane 14.

Perkiomen School will take on the National Prep Title runner-up, Northfield Mount Hermon, 8 p.m. Saturday at Babson College in the Scholar Roundball Classic.

Episcopal Ac. 61, Hill School 60 >> The Blues saw a five-point lead erased by Episcopal in the final minute of their non-league game.

The Hill, which led 60-55 prior to the last minute, got 18 points and eight rebounds from Caleb Dorsey as it rallied from a 32-26 halftime deficit. Xavier Mayo added a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Blues return to action Saturday in their 7 p.m. home opener against Macduffie.
