Four Agnes Irwin seniors sign National Letters of Intent
Four Agnes Irwin seniors signed National Letters of Intent Nov. 14 to pursue their chosen sports at Division I colleges and universities. The signers were:
- Maddie Aguirre, University of Wisconsin, swimming
- Emma Bonner, Boston College, crew
- Cecilia (Cc) Senyk, Colgate University, lacrosse
- Emily Wills, Loyola University Maryland, lacrosse
Aguirre was named Scholastic All-American after the 2017-2018 season, and has been named All-InterAc four years in a row. Aguirre currently holds 10 school records in the pool for individual events and as a member of relay teams.
Bonner has been a member of numerous first-place finishes at the Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Associations Manny Flick Regatta Series, has medaled at the Philadelphia City Championships, and has raced in the finals at the Stotesbury Regatta. Additionally, Bonner’s boats have qualified for the Scholastic Rowing Association National Championship in each year of her high school career.
Senyk, a member of the varsity lacrosse squad at Agnes Irwin since ninth grade, has been part of the Owls’ squads that won the PAISAA state championship in 2017 and 2018, and the Inter-Ac League championship in 2016 and 2018. In addition to her accomplishments on the field, Senyk has taught youth lacrosse clinics in the Philippines to raise the profile of the sport and opportunities for girls in sports internationally.
Wills, a dynamic attacker, was named a US Lacrosse All-American and first team All Inter-Ac in 2018. As a member of the varsity lacrosse team, Wills helped the team win the PAISAA state championship in 2017 and 2018, and the Inter-Ac League championship in 2016 and 2018. She has scored more than 100 goals in her career at AIS.
These four athletes are among 10 Agnes Irwin seniors who have already verbally committed to continuing their sports in college, as of Nov. 14. Altogether, 14 percent of the Class of 2019 has verbally committed to college athletic programs. The students are:
