Reporter Field Hockey Roundup: Pennridge edges North Penn to boost district hopes

The Pennridge field hockey team gave a boost to its District 1-3A playoff chances Tuesday, the Rams scoring three times in the second half to edge visiting North Penn 3-2 in their Suburban One League Continental Conference matchup.

Monica Kerins pulled Pennridge even 1-1 off a Abby Ludlow assist at 25:28, Sydney Borneman put the Rams (8-9-0, 4-8-0 conference) up 2-1 with 14:27 left while Kayla Richards made it two-score advantage at 12:05. 

Emily Crawford got the Knights within 3-2 by converting a penalty stroke for her second goal at 4:28. Crawford gave North Penn the 1-0 lead with her tally at 12:28 in the first half.

Mallory Stowell made eight saves for the Knights, who are 24th in the district 3A rankings. North Penn visits Conestoga 6 p.m. Wednesday in its regular-season finale.

Mac Bross stopped six shots for Pennridge, who sit 20th in the 3A rankings. The Rams end the regular season hosting Cheltenham 7 p.m. Thursday.

Upper Dublin 2, Springfield-Montco 0 >> Jenn McCarry and Ryann Kullmann each scored a goal while Meghan Muth made six saves as Upper Dublin ended its regular season with a second-straight win.

McCarry scored at 7:11 in the first half off an Allie Rock assist while Kullmann doubled the lead for the Cardinals (9-7-1, 8-5-1 SOL American) at 21:16 in the second half with Peyton Kullmann getting the assist.

Rebecca Berglund made six saves for Springfield (9-6-1, 6-6-1).

Plymouth Whitemarsh 9, Hatboro-Horsham 0 >> Kaleigh Missimer scored three goals — including the first two of the game — while Ava Borkowski added a pair of goals as Plymouth Whitemarsh rolled to its eighth-consecutive victory on Senior Night.

Sam Spera collected a goal and assist for the Colonials (16-1-0, 13-0-0 SOL American), who led 7-0 at halftime. Kennedy Reardon, Alexis Minor and Autumn Luptak each scored a goal for PW while Hailey Copestick had an assist.

Germantown Academy 7, SCH Academy 0 >> Sammy Popper finished with three goals and two assists while Sophie Towne had two goals and an assist as Germantown Academy rolled to an Inter-Ac shutout victory.

Sydney Cameron and Maddie O’Hara each added a goal for the Patriots (9-3-1, 5-1-1 league) while Ella Henry collected an assist.

Dock Mennonite 2, Delco Christian 0 >> Kate Strickland assisted on Elle Bergey’s first-half goal then scored after the break as Dock Mennonite blanked Delco Christian for a Bicentennial Athletic League win.

Sophie Zaskoda made two saves for the Pioneers (10-6-0, 9-3-0). Rachel Yeung stopped six shots for Delco Christian.
