Interboro claims share of Del Val field hockey title

Although difficult, the task was clear for Interboro Tuesday night.

Beat Chichester and the Bucs win a share of the Del Val League field hockey title. Lose, as Interboro did in the first two meetings, and the Eagles claim the crown outright.

The Bucs didn’t wilt under the pressure.

Dani Linker had one goal and one assist, and goalie Sophia Harley made seven saves as Interboro topped Chi, 3-1, to grab a share of the championship.

Logan Stewart and Marissa Mullan also scored, while Maddy Bonner, Sam Shemeluk, Emma Neves and Izzy Ianncelli played solid defense in front of Harley.

In the Central League:

Radnor 6, Upper Darby 0 >> Brigid Lowry collected two goals and two assists, and Alicia Vitale added two goals and one assist as the Raiders extended their winning streak to 14 games.

Page Lowry added one goal and one assist. Barb Civitella had the other goal. Mariama Keita (seven saves) and Santi Laureano (two saves) split time in goal for the Royals.

Strath Haven 3, Ridley 0 >> Sarah McAndrews converted as pass from Ashley Hassell in the first half, and Rori Caulfield sealed it with two goals in the second. Breana Raysor (two saves) and Sarah Flynn (three saves) combined on the shutout for the Panthers (3-9-2, 2-7-1).

Conestoga 10, Springfield 0 >> Charlotte de Vries scored seven times as the Pioneers (14-3, 11-0) completed a sixth straight undefeated run in the Central League. Chloe Ziegler chipped in two goals.

Ashlyn Stienstra made eight saves in goal for the Cougars.

In the Catholic League:

Card. O’Hara 2, Archbishop Wood 0 >> Goalie Gianna Travis turned back 16 shots to help the Lions (8-6, 6-1) take sole possession of second place. Katie Shallow had a goal and an assist, while Julia Ferriaolo also scored.

In the Inter-Ac League:

Episcopal Academy 10, Penn Charter 1 >> Maddie Rehak found the back of the cage three times and Macy Szukics added one goal and two assists. Gianna Pantaleo (goal, assist), Jackie Miller (goal, assist) and Kathleen Anderson (two assists) also had multiple-point games for the Churchwomen (8-2-2, 4-2-1).

In the Bicentennial League:

Dock Mennonite 2, Delco Christian 0 >> Goalie Rachel Yeung made six saves as the Knights (6-10, 4-10) had their five-game winning streak snapped.
