Mercury Girls Soccer Roundup: Pottsgrove perfect in PAC Frontier Division

Pottsgrove 1, Phoenixville 0 >> The Falcons capped an unbeaten run through the PAC Frontier Division with a shutout of the Phantoms Thursday.

Skylar Glass converted the game’s lone goal — her 19th of the season — with 25 minutes left. Avery Makoid was credited with the assist.

Allison Dixon made five saves in goal to secure the shutout for Pottsgrove (14-4 overall). The Falcons have qualified for the PAC playoffs and will face wild card Spring-Ford in a 5 p.m. semifinal Tuesday at Owen J. Roberts.

Pope John Paul II 2, Upper Merion 0 >> First-half goals by Julie Cherneskie and Delanie Didier proved enough for the Golden Panthers to prevail over the Vikings in a PAC Frontier Division game as PJP chases the final wild card spot for the PAC playoffs.

Rayna George and Julia Hall were credited with assists for PJP. Stacy Kormos and Gina Marinelli each had one save for the Panthers, with Michelle Barrios turning away 16 shots for Upper Merion.

Pope John Paul II improved to 8-4 in PAC play and can clinch a PAC playoff berth Friday with a win over Upper Perkiomen.

Upper Perkiomen 1, Pottstown 0 >> Serena Watkins marked her Senior Night in style, her goal the difference for the Indians in their PAC Frontier Division victory over the Trojans.

Watkins scored in the 70th minute, and goalkeeper Hannah Landis made the tally stand up with four-save play for her fifth shutout of the year. Emme Wolfel had five saves for Pottstown.
