Mercury Girls Volleyball Roundup: Methacton holds off Boyertown

Methacton 3, Boyertown 2 >> They went the distance before the Warriors outlasted the Bears in their PAC contest Thursday. Methacton picked up the first and third sets (25-23, 25-18) and Boyertown took the second and fourth (25-20, 25-21) to set the stage for the Warriors’ deciding 16-4 fifth set.

For Boyertown, Emma Ludwig had 18 assists, seven kills and eight dig; Emily Wolfe added nine kills and five blocks; and Taylor Jones contributed 15 assists and 13 kills.

Phoenixville 3, Harriton 1 >> The Phantoms rebounded from an opening-set loss to overtake Harriton in their non-league game. Phoenixville scored 25-19, 25-20 and 25-20 set wins after Harriton took the first 25-21.

Kayla Grammerstorf had seven aces, 14 kills and 16 digs for the Phantoms. Romina Broglia added four aces, two kills and 14 digs with Malu Salin Matos contributing two aces, four kills and five digs.

Upper Merion 3, Pope John Paul II 1 >> Upper Merion won in four sets, 25-20, 20-25, 26-24, 25-14, in a rematch of last year’s PAC finalists.
