Mercury Boys Soccer Roundup: Boyertown finds scoring touch vs. Pottstown

It was offense by committee.

The Boyertown boys soccer team had plenty of players contributing to its 11-0 victory over Pottstown Thursday. A total of 10 Bears scored goals while five others assisted on tallies in this Pioneer Athletic Conference divisional crossover game.

Noah Barnes headed a balanced offensive, scoring two goals and assisting on two others. Jagger Sokol had one goal and assist to his credit, with Matt Selders getting credit for a pair of assists.

Other Boyertown players who got in the scoring act were Kolby Houck, Matt Esz, Derek Dierolf, Drew Benning, Ryan Burkhardt, Brandon Barbary, Ben Fetterman and Beckett Wenger. Credit for assists went to Chris Davis, Gavin McCloskey, Tyler Seidel and Luke Moser.

Owen J. Roberts 5, Phoenixville 0 >> Sam Coroniti’s hat trick headed the Wildcats as they blanked the Phantoms in their PAC divisional crossover game.

Sam Smith and Ethan Gawlik chipped in with goals and assists for Owen J, with Max Gawlik and Josh Fonder getting credit for other assists. Ryan Walker needed to make just two saves in goal to give Roberts the clean sheet, with Jack Perrillo turning in a seven-save game for Phoenixville.

Spring-Ford 6, Upper Perkiomen 0 >> Brett Gulati’s two-goal outing led the Rams to victory over the Indians in their PAC divisional crossover pairing.

Connor Lynch, Evan Hang, Harry Bastable and Johnny Guimeraes also scored for Spring-Ford. Patrick McHale made seven saves in goal for UP.

Pope John Paul II 6, Norristown 2 >> A.J. Williams netted a hat trick, and Justin Russell figured in on four goals to lead the Golden Panthers’ victory over the Eagles in their PAC divisional crossover game.

Russell had two unassisted goals and a pair of assists for PJP, which got a solo tally from Matt Kossey and two assists from Salvy Marano. Michael Kinse and Gabe Tello accounted for Norristown’s scoring.

Methacton 3, Pottsgrove 1 >> The Warriors rallied to overturn the Falcons’ early lead and win this PAC divisional crossover game.

Trevor Rambo scored twice, once in each half, to negate Shane Gleason’s goal for Pottsgrove. Chris Meehan capped the scoring at the 26:13 mark of the second while Luke Kaiser gave the Falcons 11-save goaltending.

Perkiomen Valley 1, Upper Merion 0 >> Steve Warren scored in the second minute of the game to give PV all the offense it needed to prevail over Upper Merion in their PAC divisional crossover game.

Alfredo Grimaldi was credited with the assist on Warren’s goal. Josh Moyer needed to make just one save to give PV the clean sheet.

West-Mont 7, Mercy Career 0 >> The Wings remain undefeated after their non-league victory over Mercy Career and Technical.

Ezra Fagan, Francis Mensah and Sam Herman each scored twice for West-Mont (7-0) and Chase Malenke added another.
