Saito goal, stout defense leads Garnet Valley to win

Alyssa Saito provided all the offensive production Garnet Valley would require in a 1-0 Central League girls soccer decision over Springfield.

Saito converted a pass from Bridget Stoops just 11 minutes into the game, and the Garnet Valley defense held on from there.

Kayleigh Saboja shut out the Cougars in goal. The Jags also received well-played games from defenders Haley Williams, Kara Nealon, Caroline Amen and Grace Brenna.

Elsewhere in the Central League:

Ridley 2, Harriton 0 >> Rylie Butler and Theresa Sinister both scored a goal in the first half for the Green Raiders (4-2, 2-1). Sydney Zimmerman made nine saves in net for the shutout.

Strath Haven 7, Upper Darby 1 >> Cayden Frazier scored twice as Strath Haven moved to 6-0 on the season. Devon Maillet, Gianna Zweier, Ali Broome, Eleni Diaktos and Hope Graham also tallied for the Panthers.

Haverford 2, Radnor 1 >> The Fords won in overtime, but no scoring details were reported to the Daily Times.

Sophia Muetterties tallied for the Raiders.

Conestoga 6, Marple Newtown 1 >> Nia Scott and Julia Littlewood paced the Pioneers with two goals apiece. Caitlin Donovan dished out two assists.

In the Catholic League:

Cardinal O’Hara 8, Bishop McDevitt 0 >> The Lions received a balanced effort on attack as eight players scored one goal each: Laura Evangelist , Emily Donlan, Gill Trolio, Gina Trolio, Alison Ahearn, Grace MacManus, Tory Amoroso and Ellie Miller. Kerry Patterson and Sanaa Balinger combined for the shutout in net.

Lansdale Catholic 2, Archbishop Carroll 1 >> Paige Mastripolito scored her ninth goal of the season for the Patriots (3-3, 3-1). Kelliann Matey got the assist.

In the Ches-Mont League:

Kennett 3, Sun Valley 2 >> The Vanguards battled back from a 2-0 halftime deficit thanks in part to Chiara Robinson, who scored twice.
