Reporter Field Hockey Roundup: CB East tops North Penn in high-scoring contest

The Central Bucks East and North Penn field hockey teams combined for eight goals in the second half of their Suburban One League Continental Conference matchup, the visiting Patriots  using four-goal run to build a 6-2 lead before holding off North Penn to stay unbeaten with an 6-4 victory Wednesday.

Phia Mannino had two goals and an assist while Ally Gallant scored twice for the for the Patriots (5-0-0, 3-0-0 conference). Emma Donnelly added a goal and an assist.

Kristen Varilla collected a hat trick for the Knights (1-3-0, 0-2-0) while Emily Crawford chipped in a goal and an assist. NP goalkeeper Mallory Stowell made nine saves.

Abington 3, Upper Dublin 0 >> Abington got all its offense in the first half, Grace Kirwin scoring the first two with Becca Gable tallied the third with 50 seconds before the break as the Galloping Ghosts earned a third straight victory.

Gable and Paige Doyle collected assists for Abington (3-1-0, 3-0-0 SOL American) while Ellie Hughes stopped three shots for the shutout.

Megan Muth made nine saves for Upper Dublin (2-1-0, 2-1-0 SOL American).

Springfield-Montco 1, Wissahickon 0 (OT) >> Maddie Yoder scored seven minutes into overtime off a Kate Wojectk assist as Springfield (3-2-0, 1-2-0 SOL American) claimed a second straight victory.

Wissahickon (1-2-0, 1-2-0) dropped its second straight.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 14, Cheltenham 0 >> Sam Spera and Alexis Minor both record hat trick as Plymouth Whitemarsh rolled to an SOL American win.

Spera added two assists while Ava Borkowski finished with two goals and an assist for the Colonials (4-0-0, 3-0-0). Kennedy Reardon and Autmn Luptak both chipped in a goal and an assist.

Dock Mennonite 3, Bristol 0 >> Kate Strickland scored twice on penalty corners – Macy Balmer assisting on both – while Balmer added a goal after halftime as Dock improved to 2-1-0 (2-0-0 BAL) in a game which ended early due to weather.

“The field conditions weren’t the best and we were able to battle through and get a win — girls played well,” Dock coach Michelle Waldspurger said.

Bristol goalkeeper Morgan Hamilton made 14 saves.
