Central Bucks West takes on unbeaten Quakertown at Alumni Field

Central Bucks West hits the road for the first time this season when the Bucks travel to undefeated Quakertown Friday for a pivotal Week Three non-league matchup.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

The Bucks come into this one 1-1, having opened the season with an impressive 21-0 victory over Hatboro-Horsham before suffering a tough loss last week, falling 10-7 in overtime to Council Rock South.

Quakertown is a perfect 2-0, opening the season with a pair of road wins: 20-13 over Central Bucks East and 28-14 over Souderton Area.

The Bucks look to continue their winning ways against the Panthers. Last year, in a battle of unbeatens, CB West blanked Quakertown 20-0 in Week Three.

But this could be a tougher test for West.

Quakertown is off to a tremendous start, thanks in part to the versatile Michael Terra. The Panthers’ senior all-purpose back scored a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns last week that cemented the victory over Big Red.

In fact, Terra scored three touchdowns in all, including a 21-yard run off the left side. His other two scores came off a TD reception and a 20-yard run that displayed his ability to burst through a hole and break free.

The Bucks would like to counter with a versatile weapon of their own: tight end Luke Benson.

At 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, Benson is an imposing target. The Syracuse commit gives the Buck passing attack plenty of punch, especially around the goal line.

Backed by what should be a packed house at Alumni Field, the Panthers aim for a victory and a 3-0 start heading into their Suburban One League American Conference opener, at home against Upper Moreland.

West will be pushing for a 2-1 start heading into its SOL Continental opener, at home against Central Bucks South.
